In this review, we show how plant VOCs regulate plant-soilborne pathogenic fungi and mycorrhizae interactions. How fungal VOCs mediate plant–soilborne pathogenic and beneficial fungi interactions are presented and the most common methods to collect and analyze belowground volatiles are evaluated.
